Tesla Confirms Cybercab Production Start — April 2026 Is Official
It’s finally happening. Tesla has locked in the date.
Elon Musk reaffirmed that Cybercab production will begin in April 2026, marking the start of the robotaxi era. The dedicated autonomous vehicle, unveiled last year, will roll off production lines at Gigafactory Texas with no steering wheel and no pedals.
Tesla Owners Silicon Valley reported Musk’s confirmation:

The April 2026 production start represents a major milestone for Tesla’s autonomous driving ambitions. While competitors are still testing with safety drivers, Tesla is preparing to manufacture vehicles designed from the ground up for unsupervised operation.
From Electrek:
Tesla shared today that the first Cybercab production unit has rolled off the assembly line at Gigafactory Texas. The vehicle has no steering wheel and no pedals. It’s a dedicated robotaxi designed for Tesla’s autonomous ride-hailing network, not for personal ownership.
The Cybercab is unlike any vehicle Tesla has produced before. Previous Teslas were designed for human drivers first, with autonomous capability added later. The Cybercab flips that equation—it’s built for autonomy first, with human passengers as the focus.
Teslarati noted the preparations already underway:

The production timeline puts Tesla ahead of schedule. The company had originally promised Cybercab production would begin in 2026, but the first units are already being built in February. Volume production is still planned for April.
From Tesla:
Congratulations to the Tesla team on making the first production Cybercab. Volume production planned for April 2026. The future of transportation is here.
The vehicle’s design is striking—a sleek two-door coupe with gullwing doors and a minimalist interior optimized for ride-hailing. Passengers enter through automatic doors and let the car handle the rest.
Industry analyst Nic Cruz Patane outlined what’s coming in 2026:
If you thought 2025 was crazy, wait till you see what Tesla does in 2026.
• Cybercab production begins, without a steering wheel and pedals.
• Unsupervised FSD is solved.
• Optimus V3 Unveiling
• Robotaxi widespread expansion and adoption.
• Tesla Semi production… pic.twitter.com/OaFW7eSELa— Nic Cruz Patane (@niccruzpatane) December 26, 2025
His predictions include Cybercab production beginning without steering wheel or pedals, unsupervised FSD solved, Optimus V3 unveiling, and robotaxi widespread expansion.
Tesla is preparing to deploy these vehicles on its robotaxi network later this year, starting in Austin, Texas. The company is already testing unsupervised FSD with employees, and the Cybercab represents the hardware that will make commercial robotaxi service possible.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. If Tesla can successfully deploy the Cybercab at scale, it could revolutionize transportation. The first Cybercab is built. The autonomous future is one step closer.
The steering wheel is gone. The revolution has begun.
