If you were planning to configure a Lunar Silver Model S or Model X, you’re too late. Tesla’s online configurator now displays a stark message: “Lunar Silver paint is sold out.”
The premium metallic finish has officially sold out for custom orders on both the Model S and Model X, signaling the beginning of the end for Tesla’s longest-running vehicle lines. While some Lunar Silver units remain in existing inventory, Tesla is no longer accepting new orders for the color.
From Drive Tesla Canada:
While some Lunar Silver vehicles remain available in existing inventory, the colour is no longer offered in Tesla’s online custom configurator—strongly suggesting the last units in the metallic shade have already rolled off the line, or soon will.
The sellout comes as Tesla prepares to end Model S and Model X production entirely by Q2 2026. CEO Elon Musk confirmed the decision during Tesla’s Q4 2025 earnings call, explaining the Fremont factory lines will be converted to Optimus robot production.
Doug DeMuro ranked the @Tesla Model S as the #1 most important car of the last 30 years in his new video.

Five other colors remain available for those still looking to order a Model S or Model X: Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multicoat, Diamond Black, Frost Blue Metallic, and Ultra Red. But the clock is ticking on these as well.
The Model S launched in 2012 and the Model X in 2015. Together, they helped establish Tesla as a legitimate force in the automotive industry and fundamentally changed perceptions of what an electric vehicle could be. The Model S proved EVs could be fast, luxurious, and desirable. The Model X showed they could also be practical for families.
From EONMSK News:
Tesla has sold out the Lunar Silver paint from custom orders for the Model S and Model X. However, customers who want to buy this color can grab a unit from the inventory, but new builds are completely exhausted.
The timing makes sense. Over 97% of Tesla’s vehicle deliveries in Q4 2025 were Model 3 and Model Y units. The flagship sedan and SUV have become niche products in Tesla’s lineup, and the company sees more potential in its robotics future.
If you’ve been on the fence about ordering one of Tesla’s original game-changers, the Lunar Silver sellout is your warning. These vehicles are entering their final chapter, and the remaining colors won’t last forever either.
