Tesla is no longer talking about a European Semi launch as a truck-only project.
The company now plans to pair 2027 customer deliveries with an initial network of more than 100 Megacharging points across Europe.
That is the fresh development from Tesla Semi chief Dan Priestley’s appearance at IAA Transportation in Hannover. The truck’s range and charging specifications were already public.
Now the infrastructure plan is starting to take shape.
The keynote also supplied an important real-world number: customer-operated Tesla Semis have accumulated 19 million kilometers, or roughly 11.8 million miles, with pilot programs adding another 400,000 kilometers.

Europe gets a truck-and-network plan
TeslaMag reports that Priestley used the September 15 keynote to announce an initial European network of more than 100 Megacharging points. The rollout is meant to support the Semi’s arrival in 2027, when Tesla expects to begin customer deliveries on the continent.
European pricing and a specific launch month remain open. Priestley tied the charging buildout directly to the market entry, reducing the burden on customers to depend entirely on depot charging.
The company did not attach a complete site map, pricing schedule or exact delivery month to the announcement. Those details still matter.
A fleet operator can evaluate a truck’s range on paper, but it needs to know where high-power charging will exist along actual routes.
More than 100 points would not blanket Europe overnight. It would, however, move Tesla beyond a vehicle announcement and into the freight-corridor problem that decides whether an electric tractor can work outside a closed depot loop.
The first sites will carry outsized importance. A useful network must connect logistics hubs and heavily traveled freight routes, rather than place chargers wherever grid connections are easiest.
Priestley’s presentation tied the charging buildout to Tesla’s production ramp rather than treating it as a distant side project. That sequencing gives European fleet buyers a concrete infrastructure marker to watch before committing trucks to regular service.
The European Semi has a narrower mission than the U.S. long-range version
Tesla lists the European Semi with up to 550 kilometers, or about 342 miles, of range at a full 40-tonne gross combination weight. The company claims energy consumption of roughly 1.0 kWh per kilometer and says its Semi Chargers can restore as much as 60 percent of range in 30 minutes.
Those numbers point toward regional and scheduled long-haul work rather than an attempt to reproduce every diesel route without planning. For fleets, the operating question becomes whether a truck can finish a known leg, charge during a legally required break and return to service without disrupting payload or dispatch timing.
The 19 million customer kilometers matter for the same reason. They represent freight work performed outside a launch stage, where uptime, loading and charging have to fit a real business day.
IAA Transportation confirms that Priestley presented Tesla’s plan to bring the electric heavy-duty truck to Europe next year and that first customer deliveries are scheduled for 2027. The event placed Tesla alongside established commercial-vehicle manufacturers wrestling with the same two constraints: charging infrastructure and fleet economics.
The Hannover program centered on the wider transformation of road freight, including high-power charging, industrial competition and the operating needs of fleet customers. Tesla’s truck arrived in that setting as a production product with a delivery target, not a stand-alone prototype display.
Europe already has competing electric trucks and a growing megawatt-charging ecosystem. Tesla is not entering an empty field.
Its advantage will have to come from efficiency, uptime, software and a network that shows up on schedule.
Pre-assembled hardware could make the rollout faster
The network announcement landed as Tesla showed a practical way to shorten charger construction.
Tesla Charging says its first pre-assembled Megachargers are now deployed. Each factory-built unit uses one V4 cabinet feeding two posts, with up to 1.2 megawatts available at each post.

Factory assembly does not remove the need for land, utility capacity, permits or civil work. It can reduce the amount of electrical and equipment integration performed on site, making repeated installations more predictable.
That is exactly the kind of unglamorous execution Tesla needs if the European network is to arrive with the trucks rather than years behind them.
The Semi’s European debut was always going to invite arguments about range, cab design and Tesla’s long delays. The charging commitment changes the conversation in a useful way.
Tesla has put a number on the opening network, attached a 2027 window to customer deliveries and shown deployable megawatt hardware. The next test is physical: turn those plans into freight-ready sites before the first European fleet operators need them.
