Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot is heading to Boston for one of the most exciting public appearances in the program’s history. The timing could not be more perfect. Marathon Monday is one of the biggest single-day events in the entire country, and Tesla is putting Optimus right in the middle of it.
The Tesla Boston Boylston Street showroom sits right on the marathon route. Hundreds of thousands of spectators will be lining the streets, and Optimus will be right there cheering alongside them. No tickets needed, no VIP passes. Just walk up, meet the robot, and snap a photo. This is Tesla making advanced robotics accessible to everyone.
This appearance follows Optimus showings in Shanghai, Miami, and Mumbai. Tesla is clearly on a mission to get this robot in front of as many people as possible before Gen 3 production ramps later this year.
Take a look at the invite that went out:

Basenor covered the full details of the appearance:
Tesla Optimus is coming to Boston for Marathon Monday 2026. From April 19 to 20, visitors can meet the humanoid robot at the Tesla Boston Boylston Street showroom. Optimus will be cheering on marathon runners from the sidelines and posing for photos. No tickets or VIP passes are required. This represents one of the most accessible public Optimus appearances in the US to date.
The location is genius. The Boylston Street showroom is just steps from the marathon finish line, putting the robot in front of a massive, diverse audience. This is not some closed-door tech conference. This is real people, real excitement, real human-robot interaction on a huge stage.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been vocal about the Optimus program’s future, painting a picture of what AI and robotics will mean for everyday life:
Actually, AI/Robotics will mean everyone can have a penthouse if they want. The output of goods & services will be several orders of magnitude higher than today’s economy.

Read the Iain Banks Culture books for the best imagining of how it will be.
That said, what is the future…
Not a Tesla App recently broke down the technical leap coming with Gen 3:
The Gen 3 Optimus features hands with 22 degrees of freedom, nearing human form factor and functionality. The design moves toward a soft outer covering aesthetic. Tesla plans to produce one million Optimus units annually at its Fremont facility, with volume production beginning in 2026. Estimated consumer pricing is projected between $20,000 and $30,000.
Twenty-two degrees of freedom in each hand. One million units per year. A consumer price tag under $30,000. Those numbers are staggering, and events like this Boston appearance are exactly how Tesla builds public confidence in the program. When people shake hands with Optimus on Boylston Street this weekend, they will be shaking hands with the future.
If you are anywhere near Boston this weekend, the Tesla Boylston Street showroom is the place to be. Marathon Monday just got a whole lot more interesting.
