Tesla’s Spring 2026 Update made all the headlines last week with “Hey Grok,” the new Self-Driving app, and Pet Mode. But the real story? The features Tesla didn’t tell you about.
Version 2026.14 is now rolling out to the fleet, and owners who have already received it are discovering a stack of undocumented improvements that go way beyond the official release notes. We’re talking a redesigned weather map, gesture-based music controls, a 24-hour dashcam buffer with real-time telemetry, and a completely overhauled Energy app. Some of these feel bigger than the headliners.

The weather map alone is worth the update. Tesla replaced the basic radar overlay with a high-definition color palette that actually distinguishes between rain and snow. Even better, there’s a new “hour-back” history feature that lets you scrub through the last 60 minutes of weather data. If you’ve ever been on a road trip wondering whether you’re driving into a storm or away from one, this is the feature you’ve been waiting for.
Music lovers get a nice upgrade too. Swipe right on any track in Spotify or Apple Music, and it instantly queues. Tap and hold in Apple Music to manage Favorites. Swipe left in Spotify for Liked Songs. These gesture controls bring the in-car media player much closer to the smartphone experience most drivers are used to.
Then there’s the dashcam. The recording buffer jumps from one hour to a full 24 hours globally. A dedicated Save button now sits right in the Dashcam Viewer, and saved clips include real-time telemetry: speed, steering angle, and FSD status. For anyone who has ever wished they could go back further than an hour to grab a clip, this is a game-changer.
But the Energy app overhaul might be the sleeper hit of the entire update.

Not a Tesla App broke down the full list of hidden changes:
From a complete overhaul of the weather map to intuitive music gestures and redesigned settings menus, version 2026.14 is proving to be a feature release on par with Tesla’s yearly Holiday Updates.
That’s a big statement, and it’s hard to argue with it once you see what’s actually packed inside this firmware.
In a separate breakdown, Not a Tesla App detailed the Energy app changes specifically:
Tesla is making it easier than ever for drivers to understand exactly how their vehicle uses energy. Trip meters have moved from Settings into the Energy app, which now features three tabs: Drive, Park, and Trips. Drivers can create unlimited custom trips with individual energy graphs, pause functionality, and custom naming.
The old Trip A and Trip B meters are gone. You can now create as many custom trips as you want, name them, pause them mid-journey, and see individual energy consumption graphs for each one. If you’re the kind of Tesla owner who tracks efficiency across different routes or driving conditions, this is the upgrade you didn’t know you needed.
Version 2026.14 has reached about 2.7% of the global fleet so far, so most owners are still waiting. But if this update is any indication, Tesla’s software team is firing on all cylinders heading into Q2.
